Delilah is a blue standard poodle, born 12 June 1999, who
joined our household in September of 1999. My girls had their hearts set on a poodle and I insisted it be a
Standard. Delilah was bred in Mississippi by Sally Fitzpatrick. We drove up to pick up the poodle and surprise
my girls.
We fell in love with Delilah from the moment we saw her. She
has been nothing but a joy to our household. We have never had a more intelligent, loyal, loving dog. People come
over to visit her and treat her as another person, rather than a dog, and find themselves including her in our conversations.
Sometimes I feel like I am occasionally allowed into Delilah's conversations with our visitors!
She has graduated from beginning obedience class and was the class
Recall Relay Race Champion. We are now working in intermediate obedience with future thoughts toward becoming a certified
therapy dog.
Delilah has done work in our local elementary school, accompanying
me to read to the children. She loves kids and allows the kindergarteners and first graders to love her up close and
personal. She is always patient and pleasant.
We take Delilah most places we go. She loves to camp and canoe.
Open the car door and she will readily hop inside, front passenger seat, to go anywhere. She is a great traveller and
never asks, "Are we there YET?", even on the longest of journeys. She is well behaved in stores that welcome animals
and has even been places where most animals are not allowed. She has stayed in fine hotels and we are always complimented
on her perfect manners!
